“We’re locals here in the South West and we love what we do!”

For a building inspector no two jobs are ever the same, and we love the variety of properties we see all around the South West.

We inspect all styles of homes – new and old, in town and out in on the farms, forests and beaches.

Locally owned and operated in Margaret River, Nightingale Property Inspections has consistently provided the same great service since 2016, becoming the South West region’s leading independent property inspection business. We’ve inspected over 2,000 properties, that is experience that you can trust.

Our continuously growing referral base from past and current clients, as well as other property industry professionals such as real estate offices, settlement agents and mortgage industry professionals, is testament to the reliability and quality of our services.

Our business is small, family-run, 100% local and we’re proud of what we do in our community. Our team strives to provide excellent service on every single job – we can’t afford to give anything less.

We have inspected properties for families and investors buying real estate from:

Who are we?

Clint & Marli Nagtegaal

Owners and Operators.

Clint and Marli are third and second generation Margaret River locals, we’ve grown up here and seen the region change and flourish over the decades.

We returned home in 2016 after travelling and working in the building, construction and mining industries around Australia.

As a skilled husband and wife team, we saw a gap in the local market for quality property inspections combined with excellent customer service, so we founded Nightingale Property Inspections.

Together we aim to deliver the most professional inspections and reports, and also the highest level of customer service in the industry. We bring together 30+ years of experience in:

  • Building & construction – residential, commercial and industrial
  • Project management
  • Construction site auditing & inspecting
  • Health, safety & environmental auditing & inspecting
  • Customer service & small business management

Clint is our lead building and timber pest inspector and comes with 20 years experience in the building and construction industries, and has worked as a builder, supervisor and manager across a range of residential and commercial projects Australia-wide.

Clint is trained and accredited by both House Safe Australia and MPL to carry out Pre-Purchase Property Inspections, and Urban Pest Management (Timber Pest Inspections).

We are sponsors of the Margaret River Bowling Club. We designed and subsidised the club’s polo shirts with a bold new ‘Margaret River’ themed design featuring waves and grape vines.

We were proud finalists in the 2018 Telstra Margaret River Region Business Awards!

Assurance & Insurance

For added peace of mind Nightingale Property Inspections delivers all our work with both professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

“In Australia the regulation of building inspectors varies from state to state, but the one thing that demonstrates the credibility of an inspector is our professional indemnity insurance. In Western Australia, we can’t get cover in this profession unless we can prove that we have a suitable level of  building and construction industry experience, a solid understanding of the Australian Standards for property inspections, plus rigorous business practices and risk management systems in place.”

As our client this means you can be assured that you’re going to get great service and a quality report that stands up against the Australian Standards in the building industry and the requirements of real estate inspections in WA.

Note: You’ll see many other “building inspectors” out there who are carrying out inspections as a side to their main building or maintenance business. This is a questionable business model because their inspection reports may not be completely unbiased if they can also pick up further work on the home as a builder. They may be excellent as a builder or tradesperson, but they may not have training, accreditation or insurance specific to inspections, and a limited understanding of the real estate industry’s requirements or of the Australian Standards for building inspections.

Where does “Nightingale” come from?

Our surname is ‘Nagtegaal’. This translates to Nightingale in English, and comes from Clint’s Dutch grandparents who settled in Margaret River in 1959. The family has farmed and lived in the area ever since.

We have extended family who have settled all around the state – including Augusta, Pemberton, Mandurah, Kojonup, Albany and Perth.
